Caught off guard!

Where does all the time go?! Is there a song on that topic, of how time is fleeting? I should probably add to them.

So here’s another Wednesday and there should be another post on writing. Which is this one, even though it may read a little haphazardly. OK, a lot! Got caught up and didn’t have a ready post.

But I had a thought running through my mind most of this week (what am I saying, its only Wednesday and there’s another full half to go). That aside I thought back on a comment someone told me years ago. And if you don’t mind, you could participate in this odd poll in the comments.

Is writing a skill (learned) or a talent (in born)? Is it both? (and I know that sound argument ‘Hardwork beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard) I would like to know your reasoning behind the same.

I’m sure this comes up for almost every activity. I know I have had this discussion about football, always finding a way to pit the greats against each other. I guess we are always wondering if a certain level is achievable or not. Like that line ‘Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them’. Where is the line…in writing specifically.

Let me know your thoughts and I’ll be back next week with some more thoughts on that. Hopefully. And I hope you are having a wonderful week.

  1. “Is it both?” For me yes. But both involve work and commitment to succeed. But more, we need to have something to say and that requires self awareness and self reflection which are, I think, learned arts.

    1. Yes, yes and yes to work and commitment. Gaining a grasp of those two is truly where the magic lies😅. I agree with the aspect of self awareness and reflection too. If anything has to be authentic or speak to the people, it’s best it comes from the deep.
Thank you for reading and commenting :).
